Gladiator Shoes

Seasons come and go but gladiator sandals always tend to come back around. Once thought to be flatteringly trend, this style of sandal has morphed into some of our favorite summer footwear. Gladiator sandals have been around for a few years now but their fashion has been great all year round. They will undoubtedly continue to be worn for a while yet as they are comfortable, versatile and look good. Their versatility takes them from casual to elegant in just the change of an outfit or sandal finish. Here are some ideas for wearing your gladiator sandals successfully. See how celebs style them and try a pair out yourself.

Actress Garcelle Beauvais chose metallic gladiators to accent her yellow dress.

Singer Rihanna leaving her hotel and going out for dinner at Da Silvano in New York City sticks to her edgy style leanings in this combo of short shorts and high gladiators.

Reality stars Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian and her kids Mason and Penelope Disick attending church services wearing her favorite gladiator shoes spotted wearing them several times.

Singer Selena Gomez stops to get Starbucks with a friend looks chic in a tie-dye dress and black gladiators.

We love Ashley Tisdale's boho-chic outfit. She combined her kerchief-hem dress with gladiators and a cool hat.

'Maleficent' actress Elle Fanning and a male friend spotted out and about in Los Feliz keeps things hippie-chic in these tan suede gladiators.

Accept that if they don't flatter your shape, they don't, Not everyone likes how they look on (they can create a perception of a wider foot and shortened legs) and this has to point out that the slowness of these sandals to catch on in fashion is precisely because of their unflattering nature. The answer to this is to keep looking because the gladiator sandal style has been modified into many different ways, including less straps and softer angles. And consider your own shape, avoid swamping short, chubby legs in heavy, long gladiator sandals and wear chunkier styles with pants, rather than skirts or dresses.
